Can CBD help with my anxiety?
This is a question we hear a lot. And, unfortunately, it’s not always a simple yes or no answer. The short answer is that it depends on the person. We know that sounds super unhelpful, but don’t stop scrolling just yet!
Here’s the thing: anxiety is a clinical diagnosis. And a pretty complex one at that. While there are people out there who report a reduction in stress after taking hemp or CBD, there just isn’t enough research yet to definitively make claims about its efficacy as a therapeutic treatment. As with any mental health disorder, you should consult a doctor about the best treatment plan for you specifically.
That being said, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence to support the theory that hemp and CBD can help mitigate some of the side effects of daily stress, such as muscle tension and difficulty sleeping — both of which have been shown to make anxiety worse. Using hemp to manage these stress symptoms may be a helpful addition to other anxiety management strategies.
So, how much do I take and how often?
Everybody processes and reacts to hemp differently, so it takes a little bit of experimenting to figure out the serving size and frequency that works best for you. We usually suggest that people start with ~20mg of CBD per serving (not coincidentally, the exact amount in our Chill Snaps) once a day.
We also suggest that you play around with the time of day you take it to see what you prefer. Some people like to take it in the morning to start their day off, while others prefer to take it right before bed.
After about 30 days of taking 20mg once a day, you should have a sense of how it works for you. At this time, most people feel that 20mg is enough; however, some people opt to up their intake to 40mg per day (usually 20mg in the morning and another 20 before bed).
